Cello Sonata No.1 is a new work written for cello and piano. It is a modern piece of classical writing that celebrates the heritage of composition for the intimate setting of cello and piano. Utilising a broad palette of tonal colour and timbre, Cello Sonata No.1 is written for both the audience and performer in mind, using a wide range of techniques for both cellist and pianist.
Cello Sonata No.1 was premiered on Saturday 17 November 2017 at St Michael’s Without Church, Bath, performed by Jonathan Stabler on cello and Edward Bettella on piano. Highlights of the live recording can be heard in the clip below; work is currently underway on producing a ‘studio’ recording of this work and further details on this will be released in the near future.
